Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Gresham in the Kelly Creek Neighborhood.
Where did you go to school?
I attended
Powell Valley, Gordon Russell, and Sam Barlow. As well I attended Mt. Hood and Boise State. I received my Master of Divinity from George Fox Evangelical Seminary.
Do you have family in the area?
Yes. I am married to my best friend Mellanie (we met in high school) and we have three wonderful children. My mother and siblings all still live in the area.
Why pastor in Gresham?
I have a vested interest in
seeing this community grow and thrive. I have seen this community change drastically over the last 40 years. When we moved here the population was approx. 10,000 now we are over 100,000. Most pastors go to bible college or seminary and relocate to different parts of the country (and world) to serve God. I grew up here and I am privileged to serve the community that has given so much to me throughout my life. We tend to forget that the community we live in, the neighborhood we call home, the coffee shop we meet in are a mission field. I love Gresham and the people who live here...I could not think of a better place to serve God and His people.
Who is your favorite personality in the bible?
My hero of course is Jesus but I relate closely with King David. He was far from perfect yet God trusted him to lead the people of Israel through some very tumultuous times. David understood his role within the kingdom of God. He made many mistakes but he always pursued the Father. Behind Jesus and the Apostle Paul, I feel David is the most influential person in the bible.
What is your favorite Starbucks drink?
It depends on the time of year.
Summer: Venti Mocha Frappacino with no whip
Winter: Venti Mocha no whip or foam
Favorite Band?
Christian: David Crowder
Secular: The Eagles

Odd Factoid
My wife's grandfather got me turned on to cross stitching. I know it sounds funny but it is fun to do and believe it or not quite relaxing. Besides, the two-time pro bowl NFL defensive tackle Rosey Grier knits and cross stitches...who can argue with Rosey?
